A superb solid oak Gillows billiard or snooker table circa 1866.
Gillows made very few billiard tables and only on commission to the landed gentry or aristocracy.
This table stands on eight square tapered and faceted legs with a carved rose at the foot.
It is a design that can be traced to Gillows sketch books, I have included an image to show a similar table that was also made by Gillows circa 1866.
The original Gillows makers plaque and serial number is fitted to one end of the table.
