Antique snooker table, billiard or pool table 3/4 arts & crafts
1190
A handsome mahogany billiard, snooker or pool table by W Tasker Burgess of London circa 1910.
Standing on six tapering sturdy legs with a shaped foot , this table has a very contemporary feel.
The frame and cushion edges are decorated with sizeable circular bosses, we have re-rubbered the cushions and covered them in traditional green cloth.
It would be possible to change the cloth colour if required at an additional cost.
All supporting a 5 piece slate bed, this is a 10ft x 5ft model.
William Tasker Burgess (1845-1916) started his working life as a cabinet maker, closely following his father, who was a boat builder by trade, he graduated to billiard table making and started his own company in 1873, trading from 213 Liverpool Road, Islington, before moving to 125 Pentonville Road in 1895.
Following Williams death in 1916 the business was taken over by his nephew George J. Byworth who was still trading up until 1952.
